Privacy Information: Ads on this site are provided by Google. Google has advised me that they will soon launch interest-based advertising, that this may affect the site's privacy policy and that said policy should be updated by April 8th, 2009. This site has no privacy policy, but I believe it is good to know what's going on. Therefore, here's some policy regarding the ads on this site:
In general, I think ads are a good thing since they pay for the server that runs this site. For more information about interest-based advertising, including how to opt-out, visit this page at Google. [3/14/09].

Them ads. Yes, there are ads here now, but please do not consider this a money making commercial enterprise. It's still "just a hobby." The site now has a real domain name and a new host, Pair Networks, and I just hope to cover some of the costs. Click an ad if you're interested and thank you very much! [11/9/04]

In it's heyday, Perry Mason was shown in many countries. It was quite popular in Germany but, as you might expect, was a little different. The biggest change is that everybody speaks German. Leah, a fan from Germany, explains that German actors were used to dub the voices. She says this leads to interesting situations when an actor's voice is familiar from other roles. For example, Perry Mason sounds like Bill Cosby and Fred Flintstone! Engelbert von Nordhausen is the dubber, and you can "meet" him here. To add to the situation, German words tend to be longer than English ones. You know the deal, the lips say "Goodbye" as the voice says "Auf wiedersehen." Finally, the episodes are renamed in German. Leah has provided this list. It's fun to see how the titles changed. You can find translation help at LEO.

Some of the shows were once available from Columbia House on tapes and DVDs by subscription. These were high quality recordings, mostly uncut and with no commercials. These tapes and DVDs can still be found at places like eBay and from some online vendors. For more information about the Columbia House tapes and DVDs, and other sources for the show, please visit Bill Storrer's PMESG site.

One reason the show holds up for me is because it's often set in the familiar territory of Southern California. It's like time travel. The very first episode, The Case of the Restless Redhead, featured a character who was living in my home town, Riverside, California. There are no actual scenes in Riverside but there are lots of references. In one scene, Perry comments to famous movie star Helene Chaney (Gloria Henry) that Riverside is a very interesting place. The Media Page has an audio clip. This scene is missing in cut episodes of the show..

I've been a fan of the original black-and-white (and one color episode) Perry Mason TV series since the show first appeared in the fifties. There was a lapse of many years whilst I toiled in various salt mines, but, after escaping to freedom, I reconnected with the show in 1985 via the TBS cable superstation. Alas, they stopped running the show in 1996, but it is still available on some local stations. The last national airing was on The Hallmark Channel. Read about it in the Hallmark Log.

I've been a fan of the original black-and-white (and one color episode) Perry Mason TV series since the show first appeared in the fifties. There was a lapse of many years whilst I toiled in various salt mines but, after escaping to freedom, I reconnected with the show in 1985 via the TBS cable superstation. Alas, they stopping running the show in 1996, but it is still available on some local stations. The last national airing was on The Hallmark Channel. Read about it in the Hallmark Log.

Many famous people have appeared in Perry Mason episodes, some before they were famous. It's fun to try and spot these people and then check the credits to see if you were right. This game led to my obsessive habit of collecting cast lists from the credits. I did it for years and have the casts from all 271 episodes in the database featured here. All the cast lists were taken from the trailing credits except for episode #218, The Case of the Bullied Bowler, which has only partial credits. The cast list for this episode has been recreated from other sources.
Them ads. Yes, there are ads here now, but please do not consider this a money making commercial enterprise. It's still "just a hobby." The site now has a real domain name and a new host, Pair Networks, and I just hope to cover some of the costs. Click an ad if you're interested and thank you very much! [11/9/04]

Each show has an Episode Page which contains four user editable sections described below with some thoughts regarding their content.
The Summary section should provide a memory jogging plot description. I have included a description borrowed from The Perry Mason TV Show Book. Some of these are quite short. For these shows, a more detailed description would be nice. No spoilers tho! For those, there should be a link to Bill Storrer's synopsis at his PMESG site.
The Credits section, thanks to Charles Richmond, comes with a cast list with links to the IMDb for the actors. Complete credits information would be nice.
The Trivia section is for trivia. Items should be signed and dated. List them most recent last. Some trivia naturally falls into categories and should be "tagged" at the beginning in bold. Two tags I have used are Location: for trivia that deals with a real-world location seen in an episode and Anomaly: for an error in the credits (see Credits Anomalies for more information). Including a colon in the tag makes the Wiki Search feature work better.
The Comments section is undefined. It think it could be used for opinions and thoughts with, perhaps, even some discussion, like a message board.
The exact usage of the sections is up to you, but, I think it would be best to follow the existing format. Keep in mind that anyone can edit the pages. So, if you see something that needs fixing, fix it! But, be polite about it. I'd like to avoid discord. Inappropriate content should/will be deleted.
Editing is easy. Just click the Edit link near the Section name. This will open an editing page in a new window. A simple markup language is used. There are links to more information and a quick editing guide in the box below the edit window. When finished editing, click Save, then close the window. Refresh the original page to see your work. You can use the Wiki Sandbox to practice. Note: You will need a password to edit Sections. It's Lt. Tragg's first name (case sensitive).
Any changes you make are recorded in the page history along with your author name if you provided one. You can view any page's history by clicking the Hist link at the top the page. Using an author name allows an optional profile page to be created. You can access profile pages through the User Profiles link in the sidebar. If you would like a profile page, send me your author name (like a userid: one word, no spaces) and desired password. Once the page is created, you can edit it in the usual manner. You will find my email address on my profile page daveb.
This is not an open Wiki. While all pages have an Edit link, all except the Sections and a few others require the admin password to edit. New page and group (all pages are part of a group) creation is similarly restricted. This may change in the future. We'll see how it goes. One thing for sure, the Wiki is easy to change and expand in new directions.

Editing is easy. Just click the nearby Edit link. On the episode pages, this will open an editing page in a new window. A simple markup language is used. There are links to more information and a quick guide in the box at the bottom of the page. When finished editing, click Save, then close the window. Refresh the original page to see your work. Use the Wiki Sandbox to practice. You will need a password to edit. It's Lt. Tragg's first name (case sensitive).

Each Episode Page contains four user editable sections: Summary, Credits, Trivia and Comments.
The Summary section contains, as a start, a plot description borrowed from The Perry Mason TV Show Book. A more detailed but spoiler-free plot description would be nice. Plus, perhaps, a link to Bill Storrer's spoiler-laden synopsis at his PMESG site for those cases where you've just got to know.

The Comments section is undefined. It could be used for opinions and thoughts with, perhaps, even some discussion, like a message board.
The exact usage of the sections is up to you, but, I think it would be best to follow the existing format. Keep in mind that anyone who knows the password can edit the pages. So, if you see something that needs fixing, fix it! But, be polite about it. I'd like to avoid discord. Inappropriate content should/will be deleted.

New page and group (all pages are part of a group) creation are similarly restricted. This may change in the future. We'll see how it goes. This is a Wiki. That means you, the user, can edit and add content. Our topic is the Perry Mason TV series of the 50s and 60s. There are pages here for each episode. I hope, someday, that these pages will be chocked full of interesting and useful information. I'll be adding material as time permits. You are invited to contribute as well.

Each episode page contains four editable sections. The Summary section is for a brief description of the episode, for jogging the memory, perhaps with a link to Bill Storrer's spoiler-laden synopsis at his PMESG site. The Credits section is for a cast list, with IMDb links for the actors, and perhaps other credits also. The Trivia section is for oddities, errors and interesting tidbits found in the episode. Entries should probably be dated, at the end, and listed most recent first. Sign 'em if you want. The Comments section is for your thoughts and opinions about the episode.

The basic editing page describes how to create pages in PmWiki. You can practice editing in the wiki sandbox.
More information about PmWiki is available from http://www.pmwiki.org .
Editing is easy. Just click the nearby Edit link. On the episode pages, this will open an editing page in a new window. There are links to more information and a quick guide in the box at the bottom of this page. When finished editing, click Save, then close the window. Refresh the original page to see your work. Use the Wiki Sandbox to practice. You will need a password to edit. It's Lt. Tragg's first name (case sensitive).
Any changes you make are recorded in the page history along with your author name if you provided one. You can view a page's history by clicking the Hist link at the top the page. Using an author name allows an optional profile page to be created. If you would like a profile page, send me your author name and desired password. My profile is daveb.
