TVMovie #7: The Case of the
Scandalous Scoundrel
Original Airdate: 11/15/87

Summary Edit

Perry is involved in a lawsuit suing the publisher of a weekly supermarket tabloid. An acquaintance of Paul Drake, Jr. works there as a reporter but she was just recently fired from her job. She goes to the home of the publisher that evening to meet with him alone by the outdoor swimming pool and complain about losing her job. After a brief argument she left without reaching any resolution, bumping into a heavy decorative pool-side statue as she exited. Shortly thereafter the publisher is found dead, floating in the pool. The police track down and arrest the reporter.

Trivia Edit

Little inside joke.
Perry, Della, Paul and Michelle Benti are looking at tomorrow morning's scandal sheet featuring a compromising picture of Paul and Michelle. The dialog "I don't remember kissing you... Wait till my mother sees this" (Barbara Hale is William Katt's real-life mother) Della with a look of feigned shock says "Don't tell me your mother reads the Confidential Informer!" Michelle then asks Perry doesn't this bother you? "Not if it doesn't bother Paul's mother" CMC 14-Jun-2022.

James McEachin plays Harry Forbes, the driver of the Logan Caterers van. McEachin usually is found in many of the other Perry Mason movies playing a policeman (Sgt Clifford Brock or Lt. Ed Brock) CMC 14-Jun-2022.
